I mean, as long as you have a Specialist/Killer read, that’s a start. I’m fine if you don’t like that I’m not Spec, but I would appreciate if you try to look beyond that and determine whether I’m VT or Killer.
The best way to not be responsible for screwing it up would be to just play your heart out. Give it a shot! If you’re wrong, at least you were wrong while trying your ass off
I personally Specread Phone, so I’m not really going to go down that route, but I do think its worth watching further. I’d like to see more content from Erika and the AFK’s
I have no idea how to quote a huge post and put it in spoilers, so I’m just going to refer to the post I’m replying to as #71 from Phoenix.
yes, being nice is NAI lol
Ehh, since you confirm that meta part, maybe GoldenGirl isn’t a tryhard scum then, but it’s not like nobody ever lied in a game of Mafia, so I’m not convinced. We’ll see when there’s a more clear AI intent coming from her.
I agree heart rate is a better choice when 3 killers are alive. As for roleblock vs heal (which should likely be kept for when we got at least 1 killer down), it all depends on whether there is an obvious townie that’s gonna get killed or suspicious people. About Spak asking what the Specialist should do, I originally thought it was about in which order he would make killers kill. Saying what you’d do as Specialist would put the real Specialist in a small PoE for the killer based on the fact that he knows his own role was first in the list. That’s what I was opposed to. The more standard actions don’t really hurt to discuss.
It’s not really a non-RVS vote: it’s the first thing I find that looks somewhat bad, and I push it to generate reactions. And guess what… it generated reactions! RVS is great, but it’s a means, not a goal. Getting out of RVS to go into serious analysis stage is the town’s objective early on.
As for the read itself, you have claimed, without anyone to confirm (before Phoenix did), that you always want to appear towny. Since I don’t know you, I have no proof whatsoever of this, and this is a game of lies… as far as I know, this could just be a strategy to either wash your hands from your somewhat scummy attitude or even to mimick your town meta as scum to fool those who know you. Hence why I’m not impressed.
Uhh, if you want… maybe… maybe not…
And I only failed to specify which part of Specialist discussion shouldn’t be done. I stand by my point on that.
Far too early for mafia to be abrasive at this point in the game. Usually when I’m abrasive as Mafia, I’m trying to scumpaint someone, and tryinf to control the game, especially if a player has a scumread on me and I’m trying to discredit them
if anything, being nice would sooner come from a wolf, not a town, although it’s mostly NAI
Also, I will just say this: I really want all the speculation about who the Specialist is and what ppl would do if they were Specialist to end RIGHT now, because that kind of speculation is anti-town and has the risk of outing the Specialist.
That’s unfortunate; I’ve typically aligned myself with Uncle Griddle.
I don’t remember saying that Specialist should reveal what he chose to do?
And as I glanced through, I saw a lot of similar sentiments of not wanting to help the Specialist. It seems like we’ve got some newer players here, and for lack of literally anything else, I figured we could help the Specialist if they happen to be it. There’s no sort of RB or tracking so it’s pretty impossible to figure out the Specialist through investigative means, so trying to help the Specialist figure out the optimal play shouldn’t really be a concern to anyone who wants the Specialist to do well. Normal Mafia conventions don’t apply if there’s only one PR in the game lol.
I liked it until it scrolled me down 150 posts when I pressed Reply lol.
And I agree w/ Phone on RVS. It’s like having your hook in the water; something good will (hopefully) come along, you’ve just gotta get past all of the boring waiting beforehand lol.
Reads as a townslip to me, but it mighta been forced given how early & unrelated it was. First four posts have at the end, so we’ll see if that’s posting style or forced playfulness. Until given further evidence, I’ll assume the former
Right, but I still fail to see how shutting that down is useful in this context. We’ve gotten out of RVS and can finally have some useful discussion, and at the worst, scum have no more info than they did before we started talking shop about the Specialist.
You assume that our only PR is skilled enough to make the most of the role. I believe it’s true that the Specialist’s first and sole objective should be getting to endgame with the most information possible. In the off-chance that they slip up (although it’d be hard to imagine how a decent player would in this context), they’d more useful to us getting killed N3 after giving us some info than getting killed N5 with nothing since they guessed wrong at protecting people every night.
You say that they could leave the game in a decent place, but without the usage of team analysis, each of the three kills is honestly gonna be a crapshoot. We need as much info as possible to narrow down the playerlist, and we don’t have an awful lot of time to do it imo.
If you’re Town and genuinely believe this, why are you so willing to point this out in-thread? Shouldn’t you be trying to push that under the rug to save our PR?
Again, publicly trying to figure out who isn’t the Specialist is giving Killers PoE to increase their chances. You’re narrowing down the Specialist by trying to narrow down who it isn’t; that’s just a different side of the same coin. Talking mechanics is fine; talking people is not until EoD at the very earliest imo.
Just curious - why are you not condemning Golden Girl for expressing a specific Specialist read (and wanting to offer up the whole case behind it, as well), but highlight my one post where I’m basically arguing that someone might be a Killer?
Somebody needs to get executed - if you think a flash wagon at EOD is less likely to kill the Specialist than some small peripheral discussion around it, by all means. I would also point out that I am not the one actually super focused on hunting down Killers D1.
I think this is my problem with your playstyle - you’re focusing too heavily on a mechanic that does not bear enough wait to just push away scumhunting all together. Even if you don’t want to tickle Spec, your goal SHOULD BE to tickle Killers - Not anything other than Spec.
