Vengeful Tournament G6

Idk I think if you look at it and go “I don’t think I have a >30% chance to win” or whatever it’s reasonable to shift into aiming for position over going balls out for the win

I thought you used to play tournaments in vegas? Most people just want to bubble dude.

Listen my odds of coming in first at that stage were <5%. We’re not even talking about a situation where I was tied for second or something. I was dead last with 1 point. I don’t get it.

There was no bubble here! The only incentive was first lol. Give a cash prize for each place and we have a different argument and I fully support what Andres did

I mean I’m speaking generally, but yeah

I don’t think how you played was particularly bad or unsporting or whatever :woman_shrugging:

Imagine how awesome it would have been if you pulled it off though

I think even without financial motivation different “tournament wincons” are okay. Historically I’ve been pretty risk averse in a lot of competitions (going for large percent change of solid placement over taking a risk for a very good one) even when it made 0 sense to not gun for the very good one (there was only a financial incentive for first). Something something about personalities…

I was more realistic about my situation, and I feel good about the overall outcome. I played to maximize my own happiness. I don’t have to really explain myself to you to be honest.

give last place a poop badge or something, should be plenty motivation to not come in last

i want it

feels like an incentive to come last.

Anyway the only thing I think would be explicitly against the spirit is purposefully losing an individual game in a way that does not at all benefit your standing.

give them a poop avatar too. and make their title “Worst player onsite”. and change their username to something embarrassing like “PoopEater69”

You’re not helping your case.

It all comes down to I didn’t expect any player to throw away their chance to win the tournament just for slightly better odds to get a single point.

Hahaha “slightly better”. You fell for it completely.

Whatever I’m not responding to this anymore. It’s entirely silly. Well played StarV / Urist, you guys played well.

I guess Urist is the best mafia player on-site after all.

It’s literally what happened

It’s not “slightly better odds” though. it was impossible for andres to win.
assuming both andres and nanook take the only paths that make it possible for them to both win:
andres HAS to recruit 2 of m2h/kiymali/ufo.
then assuming andres wins, nanook HAS to pick andres and the other person with 2 pts.

so given that, it’s impossible for andres to win because the town will know the mafia team in g6.

Not exactly. There were other paths. Nanook doesn’t have to try to win alone, he can aim for a shared win with Andres if he thinks that maximizes his shot to win that point when it’s his turn to draft. It would have been hard not impossible
