I know that voting out bepwei doesn’t have a guarantee we know what Arete’s alignment is but I see no reason for the Mafia to accuse a fellow Mafia in this situation.

I do. Let’s say the mafia are Bepwei, Arete, and EK. By Arete ratting on Bepwei, that makes the two of them seem like townleans rather than as mafia. They would rather from a strategic standpoint have two mafias alive than one.

True, but assuming that all 3 are mafia wouldn’t it make sense for them to “investigate” someone who people are already suspicious of (like squirrel) and say that he is mafia rather than someone who is actually part of the mafia

There’s still another option. Let’s say Arete and EK are mafia, but Bepwei is town. By claiming Bepwei is a mafia even when he’s not a mafia, it means that it stalls on actually voting out the mafias for a vote.

So far, 75% of the people who have responded to the poll have said they do not trust Arete. If that’s true, why are we trusting Arete and voting out Bepwei? Right @clonedcheese?

Given the assumption that Arete and EK are Mafia, And Bepwei is town.

It would stall but only for a day most likely and then after that time wouldn’t that, nearly, guarantee that either EK or Arete, most likely Arete, would be voted out the following day.
