General Feedback and Help

I also don’t know those are!

Fair, I will just PM myself and the mod so they can see my thoughts. Wiki-game as in, meta history, game history. So that people can dig up game history and making it easier to have the information setup. Example: Click TN’s link below, template. Then realize I copied it, and messed up. Need an easier method.

It’s a wiki template for showing a large number of games in a relatively small space, while having as many details as possible.

TL;DR IT LOOKS LIKE THIS ELLI:

We have no plans at present to support a publicly editable off-forum wiki.

An option that exists is for us to make a category that doesn’t get mapped to “latest post” where every user can have their own topics to do whatever they want in. It’s possible to provide templates for those. If that sounds like it still achieves what you want we can about setting it up.

That sounds good, I would like that. I think it would achieve what we want, yes.

On a related note: we will be improving our existing Game Database to make filtering by various things easier - and to eventually just have a real UI - you already can see some relevant stats there though.

Make a chess category. That way we can post all about chess and make topics about it. W00t.

I don’t think we need an entire category? A mega-topic in gd seems fine unless popularity for it REALLY explodes.

A mega-topic sounds good. If it explodes then yeah, probably a category.

@chesskid3 convert one of the old chess topics to a chess mega thread (OP and title and all) or start a new one - you can be in charge of this one. :stuck_out_tongue:

i would really appreciate a way to, while you’re ISO-ing someone, click directly on a post they’ve made and return to the larger thread, if that makes any sense.

like, you’re looking through someone’s iso and you get to a post, then you want to see the thread context surrounding that post or start reading the thread from there, but the only option is to click the “view posts before/after this”.

There are links before and after every iso post/group of posts that indicate the number of hidden replies. Those are links. You can click to see all the posts in proximity to the ISO post you’re looking at.

right, but i guess i just find myself often wishing i could just go back to the main thread with the post i’m looking at as a starting point rather than just getting those few hidden replies.

try using the in-topic search for @username. You’ll get a drop-down list of links-plus-text to that person’s posts, and still have access to the full topic. Clicking a search link positions you on the linked post.

I think Ffery’s suggestions are the best we have at the moment.

The first two “big” releases in terms of tech/UI will be making ISO better across the board (all devices), and the navigation overhaul (indicators in the topic scrollbar, smooth pagination by days)…hopefully we get those both done in the next half year so look forward to that!

I’ll take a look at the iso thing next week to see if there are any quick fixes for this particular problem though.

Probably a very dumb thing I’m doing wrong / not doing, but I can’t get the vote tags to work -

are you doing
