Deep Space 9 Mafia - Game Over!

It’s funny, I also remember making the mistake of confusing _ffery with ffery, our Mod, the first time I played with _ffery.

@Josh, hey! Do you have any thoughts on the game so far?

@Andresvmb, thanks that’s an edifying response, and why it’s important to ask these kinds of questions since otherwise I would not have been able to understand your remark.

With regard to parsec, there are times when answering certain questions no matter the answer will not benefit town; this is one such time.

I’m not worried about the Urist wagon in particular since I don’t townread him. I won’t pretend that I sympathize with his voters however since

I don’t sympathize with his voters’ concerns either though.*

Fair enough. I won’t press further then.

Can you clarify why you don’t Townread Urist? I’m intrigued, since you disagree with the reasons why others are voting for him.

As part of my role.

Dude, you played with me in Twits, where I also spent the first bit of the game taking the piss.
And you are reacting the exact same way to me now as you did then: trying to discuss it without giving an opinion on it.
You rolled scum again, didn’t you?

Which character are you?

If you like lotr and modern history (as your avatar suggests), i think we might get along.
What year is that map from? I wanna guess 1850 but I’m pretty bad at the guessing thing.

Even without a counter-claim, it’s still possible that parsec is lying scum. Miller isn’t a super common or popular role so I don’t think it’s a risky claim, although it does fit a certain character pretty well.

Why are you worried about a wagon sitting at L-4?

Andres, ActionDan, skitter, parsec looking town.
AKFD looking slightly scummy.
cats is playing to his scum meta.
VOTE: catspurr

I am only slightly concerned - I am aware we are far from a lynch. I just think that when the wagon begins to build, it might be easy for Town players who don’t want to work hard to jump on it, giving Scum the opening they are clearly looking for.

You see how ActionDan for example has left himself open to voting for you, without casting a vote? That’s L-3. And if AKFD is Scum as you suggest, then you only need to turn a few more people that might be worried about a No Lynch and then that’s it.

@catspurr: do you think his meta assessment of you is accurate?

@Andresvmb: nah it’s a worm reference -it’s a web serial about superheros that i really really like.

the more i see from srceen the more i’m tending towards town - i feel like scum tend to not be as … unabashedly abrasive as he’s being imo to start off the game

@catspurr: why are you concerned about people getting stuck on early reads? yeah early reads can be wrong but they def can be right too so idk why you’re broadly discouraging people from trusting their early reads.

@AKFD: ok, why are you worried about it? like do you think that’s scum-indicative from urist? i really don’t think that voting the mod in your first post is like ai at all

lol ok reading along you conflated _ffery and ffery; urist voted ffery the mod, not _ffery the player. does that change ur mind wrt urist’s post being worrisome?

i think that this is probably indicative of _ffery and akfd not being scum together

@Andresvmb - have you played mafia before? (on this site or elsewhere?)

yep, millers ought to claim in their first post

at this time i don’t think it’s beneficial to either treat him as a named townie or to worry about whether he’s scum fake-claiming. in general play >>>> role and i don’t think we ought to judge parsec’s alignment either way because of his role, but rather based on how he plays.

@Andresvmb: why’d you unvote here?

what are your thoughts on urist?

like this concern doesn’t make super much sense to me - the wagon has the three votes on it and there’s like two weeks to deadline so i’m not sure why you think townies might want to jump on it here - like i don’t think we really need to be worried about a deadline lynch at this stage of the game.

i feel like you’re exercising an extreme level of caution wrt the ursist wagon that doesn’t really make sense in this gamestate.

what do you think about actiondan?

@urist: do you like parsec beyond the claim?

wrt AKFD i’m kinda getting clueless vibes from him but idk if that’s inherently scummy

No worries either way—you’ve seen what my town game looks like here, but I haven’t drawn scum on this site yet, so it seemed fair.

Can’t say whether it’s likely or not at this point, but fwiw, scum fake claiming Miller is a thing that would happen on my home site. Also not sure how that translates to the meta here, if at all.

I agree with the vote, I’m hurt by the lack of Nanook in your rundown

I have a far out, radical idea, that will most likely be shot down, but I think if we pursued it en masse it could win us the game (or at the very least, help us tremendously).

Mass reveals.

I’ll go in depth later about why I think they’re good, but the short version is: force scum to lie, figure out how to synergyze roles, possibly catch scum in a fake claim.

There are downsides, but in a game that’s promised to be role heavy, I think it benefits us more than it benefits the scum since there presumably won’t just be two town PRs for them to pick off.

Thoughts?

Horrible idea.

lolololol no

ffery’s a good enough mod that i don’t think this game is going to be broken by massclaiming day1

all i think this accomplishes is give scum a list of targets and the ability to plan around prs

is this like a thing you usually suggest?

To give you a reason, I have no idea how useful my role is. It could be totally worthless or it could have an enormous impact. It all depends on what roles the scum have. That’s why I think it’s a bad idea.
