Deep Space 9 Mafia - Game Over!

Cats, I’ll be honest with you, I do think the interaction after the fake claim makes it very likely that Srceen is Town. You can never have 100% certainty, but it’s difficult for me to place them as Scummates after it.

Now, this is the only other potential strategic consideration behind the interaction that is plausible. Also, Nanook pushed for a full mass claim in #117, just prior to the interaction with Srceen. So, it does make some sense that given that said push failed miserably (it was quickly shot down by ActionDan, Urist, and Cats), that Scum (i.e. Srceen and Nanook) tried to flush investigative roles out a different way.

This is fair enough.

I think it’s actually very likely both Screen and cats are town. And I think cabd is probably town as well. And maybe Andres and Mantis can be town. I’m not sure where to place MS and Josh just yet, but on a reread I’m not liking Urist as much as I first did. I’m still catching up though, and most of my reads are gut, from the interactions I see as I read along.

I feel like I am always paranoid about everyone! So I know what you mean. Look, I think my view of the game is evolving a bit. Urist is arguing that Srceenplay is probably Town based on the same interaction with Nanook that I just analyzed (#1893). Which is totally fair! Since, you know, I reached a similar conclusion. Except, Srceenplay keeps voting for you, and you and Cats have admitted to holding some sort of Orb, with access to a Temple (#1940). Now, I don’t find this admission to be coming from Scum, particularly because the other player to have had access to the Temple and to be holding something that could be thought of as an Orb I guess was aligned with the Prophets (_fferyllt):

So, I don’t know where that leaves me.

I feel like you’re underestimating the probability of Srceen-Nanook pulling a gambit like this as scum.
The more I think about it, the less sense it makes for Nanook to take the claim at face value, regardless of Srceen’s alignment. We literally just came out of a game where Srceen fakeclaimed cop for no reason as town. Even if Nanook is scum, why would he believe any claim Srceen makes right off the bat?

That said, I’m not saying you’re wrong. If I were to make any argument toward cats being scum, it would be Nanook’s reaction to the claim. If cats is scum, Nanook knew for sure the claim was fake. However, he would probably think, “I can’t reveal that I know this claim is fake, if I do it’ll reveal that cats and I are buddies.” That would explain his reluctance to call Srceen out on his bs.

Basically, what I am saying is that I could go either way.
There is at least one scum that is not one of Srceen/cats though, I’m certain about that. So I’ll just wait until I’m nk’d and let you guys figure out the Srceen/cats dilemma if it comes to that.

Too soon! See #2022.

I agree with your post. I also think that Srceen insisting that people that, based on his fake claim, have not cleared him are Scum is not coming from a Town mindset. Even Nanook suggesting that I should be lynched does not guarantee to anyone else that I am Town. So, why would the interaction after the fake claim?

So why are you still voting me?

I don’t think I have a vote down.

The only reason you don’t have a vote down is because you didn’t format your post properly.

VC 2-7

Cabd: 3 (Anresvmb, Judge Mental, catspurr)
Judge Mental: 2 (Urist, Metal Sonic)
Mantis: 1 (Srceenplay)
Srceenplay: 1 (Mantis)

Not voting: 3 (Josh, pyx, Cabd)

With 10 alive, it takes 6 to lynch.

Yeah, it was trash that got added in. I know we have permission to edit that stuff out, but I don’t want to start down an editing path 'cause I do it a lot outside of games.

So I’m told that Nanook likes scum theatre. What’s your take on some of the Nanook bristling? Any of it stand out to you as particularly contrived?

I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but are you saying the

Also, you don’t have cabd as spewed town?

I didn’t finish this post! I was gonna say, that you are now rescinding your prior view?

I don’t think I used “the” at all in that post.

I don’t have Cabd as spewed Town because I know Nanook would have bussed fellow Scum at the deadline to look better, and he seemed to not want to do it until the very end. I also highlighted Cabd’s vote against Josh (and particularly, the explanation) as suspicious, so there’s that too.

I have one of you or Urist as still a questionmark. I carry my own baggage of thinking there’s always 1 scum trying to lead town. I guess it could have been Nanook, and having read more of the game now I am liking you a bit better.

Do you make much of the Urist “scum daytalk” thing?

I mean, of Urist saying he didn’t think scum had daytalk, then rescinding that notion?

No I don’t make much of it. I think Urist is most likely Town for other reasons, which include his interactions with Nanook and some of his current views and explanations. He’s posted quite a bit so it’s hard to pinpoint anything specific - I just think it’s been solid Town play thus far.

Yeah, that’s what Mantis says.
It’s just, I know Josh and cabd corrected him, but then he still seemed to want to say scum didn’t have daytalk and then immediately changed his mind within 3 minutes based on another game.
