I played to maximize my odds of winning every individual game after I realized that my odds of actually winning the tournament were ~0%.
You really should stop being so salty about the outcome - it’s not like I think of myself as a great Mafia player or that I think these games prove that I’m better than Chess or something. There’s no reason to try and rain on my 2nd place parade when it’s such a small victory not to have come in last place for me. I can’t win either way - Chess would have made fun of me nonstop if I had come in last for example.

You guys are obviously butthurt, and came out and attacked me and others for our choices, as if we conspired to make you last place. If you had not been so critical of others, maybe you wouldn’t be getting this backlash.
And I was happy for not being last place and felt I redeemed myself. That was very clearly not an attack on you guys. The fact that you took it that way is entirely on you.

I played to win as many games as I could. If that ended up helping the Team that came in first, that I couldn’t completely control.
I think the closest “serious” analogue to a mafia tournament is a poker tournament and it’s generally a bad assumption to assume everyone is going for first there. I actually don’t know any tournament where everyone only goes for first place in any of the games I’ve played/watched seriously.
Like consider a 500 person mafia tournament it’s probably the case that most people’s are not gunning for first and would be satisfied with clinching an okay placement.
Playing that way went directly against playing to win the actual tournament. It’s like making sure you capture as many pawns as possible while leaving your King completely exposed
