Since this is a non-standard open setup and not everyone here has played for that long, let’s do some theorizing. Anyone who gets on (or Sam if you come back tonight): if you were the Specialist, how do you think you’d use it?
Also @Seththeking could killers do a NK? Trying to determine how the Specialist could be used as a PoE tool. (i.e. I blocked X and someone died so I know they’re not this person in the rotation).

Personally I’m of the theory that a Power Role should focus on two things
One - Getting more ML’s
Two - Finding Mafia
Protection can get more ML’s
Roleblocking doesn’t do much early game (unless I misunderstand Specialist), but it does both late game
Heart Rate can find Mafia, but it’s unreliable.
I think the course of action for specialist should be protecting their townread, and then once we get to 1 Mafia, start roleblocking (if still alive)
Could you define MLs for me? In places I’ve played, that’s a Mis1ynch (which is what a Town PR wouldn’t want to do lol).
I think that the RB aspect is actually the most important. The Specialist determines kill order, so they know which role killed each. This means if they get to endgame (or can dump some info pre-death), they can tell who isn’t certain roles, which could help with PoE somewhere down the road in lategame. There are only 9 people, though, so we can expect 4 phases if a killer wins and two people die per phase, so there might not be a lot of advantage to gaining intel that way.
Additionally, just a PSA: unless you’re at risk of being 1ynched, don’t claim. Also, we shouldn’t massclaim until MyLo/LyLo. If killers know which of us are VT, they can figure out who the Specialist is.

Alright I have some clarification with Seth and I logged back on to revise.
First things first, ML means Miselimination. I meant that it’s good for town to gain miselims, as the more miselims you have, the more chances you have to be correct.
Second, I brutally misunderstood Specialist. Roleblocking is definitely the most important mechanic as it can confirm a killer, giving +1 HML (Half Miselim) and +1 mafia dead. Getting this information out is the difficult part, but yeah, roleblocking is most definitely optimal here.

I strongly oppose this. Let the Specialist WIFOM his way out of the kill. All the Specialist should do is breadcrumb his actions (i.e. sneak what he did in his posts in a way that isn’t easily detectable, but that will be findable if we specifically look for it because he flipped), so that we get the info when he dies. I say “he”, but it could always be me. Or not. Maybe I’m saying that to draw the kill, or maybe I’m saying that to look like I want to draw the kill so that I don’t die. WHO KNOWS

I townread it when someone makes reads that actually seem logical, and just if the stuff they do seem AtE. And ehh I also make gutreads alot which is bad but I think my gut generally is somewhat good?

Likely I would use the Heart Rate function till there are 2 scum left. Right now a Roleblock can find 1/3 scum, opposed to Heart Rate which can find 2/3. So I believe it’s just better to use Heart Rate for now as there’s just more chance of finding something. A heal isn’t rlly optimal on the other hand imo, as you’d either be saving a non-PR, or possibly even a scum.
But like; it’s rare for roleblocking to actually stop something, right?
As I mentioned, sadly GoldenGirl likes being townread alot, so this where she tries to appear towny sadly is NAI… Annoying, I know
Ehh? What does this have to do with Spak’s post, I wonder. Spak never said the Specialist should reveal stuff in public, and was just wondering what the optimal move for the Specialist is here, to help the Specialist.
