Why is Doggo mafia?
I entered the game by beefing with this post, but I pledged to look for reasons to suspect everybody so Iā€™m going to restate my gripe in more words (because I havenā€™t said enough already).

I did not like this initial question because I could see it as a sort of phony pandering maneuver. ā€œLook how concerned I am about this thing, fellow townies. I am so concerned that I shall demand an answer POSTHASTE!ā€ My kneejerk reaction was admittedly influenced by my own preference to have questions like this directed at the host in private, but we can put that to the side for this exercise. This was the first real post of our game, but its focus was turned outward to the other game.

Admittedly I thought this paragraph was less substantial at first glance. Doggo produces a read on chesskid here that I donā€™t disagree with, which would then imply a corresponding read on kimpossible, who is in this game with us. For the sake of finding something to criticize, Iā€™ll note that Doggo says nothing about Kim at all except for an indirect mention. His focus, again, remains on the player whoā€™s not here.

This is where I got the more serious ā€œHow do you do, fellow townā€ vibes from Doggo. This is a mechanical question that Iā€™m not particularly interested in at the outset of Day 1. I felt as though Doggo was making a big public show of his concern for the things covered in this post, with this as the most glaring example.

Whether or not I believe in any of these things is irrelevant. I present all of this simply as a topic to be discussed.

Fatmo is town. All the words in their post suggest so. Moving on to M2H. Again, I am purposely trying to read folks as bad in this exercise:

Doggo was critical of M2H before he showed up in the thread. M2H produced this easy town read because of it, which I could see as an effort to appease the player whoā€™s already on his keister early Day 1. Similarly:

Big Loud Spice Jar gets an easy town read too.

I also donā€™t love the self-deprecation at the end of this reflection. Could be M2H trying to either undersell himself or trying to preemptively excuse some future behavior. This is not a read that I could say is established yet, as it hinges on future events which may or may not happen.

Iā€™m here. Iā€™m jet lagged. I glanced at the opening couple posts but figured I should just check in first before I start reading.

I did see the post where Kim is claimed to be in a cross game mason group because I saw the @. At first thought Iā€™m inclined to go along with it because I think thatā€™s a pretty bold scum play to open it up with. Iā€™m going to eat and catch up. Although I should probably stress now that I really donā€™t plan on reading the other game unless I absolutely have to. Just donā€™t have that kind of time.

Why is Ellibereth mafia?

This type of post is bound to set of my alarms, but I am willing to look past it because it seems to be a facet of Elliberethā€™s approach. My objection, in a vacuum, would be that this post does nothing to acknowledge the content which comprises the actual game that we are all playing right now. Its focus is elsewhere, but it is pretending to be on topic.
But if I read this post in the context of an enigmatic new (to me) player, then I can see this as the foundation of that playerā€™s approach to this particular mafia game.

If I am attempting to scum read Ellibereth at this exact moment, I do not see that they have produced any content that moves the game forward, but the implication of our exchange is that ā€œcontentā€ is a dirty word to them. So Iā€™m just twiddling my thumbs and squinting my eyes at this ISO right now. I do not know what this playstyle looks like in action, so Iā€™ll need to see it to understand.

VOTE: DoggoPlays again because I feel the most substantial beef that I have is with them.

Still catching up but oh wow Kim and Fatmo, is this what I sound like on playdip?

I play like 90% angry. Well, not angry per se, butā€¦antagonistic and snarky.

God Iā€™m going to have the recurring problem of making 7 consecutive posts a lot again, arenā€™t I?

I raised the limit to 10. Legitimate use of multiposts are fine, just not the
ONE
WORD
PER
POST

thing

though weā€™ll talk to those people when that happen on a case by case basis.

Okay just as a general rule, if thereā€™s a question you need to ask the GM, especially regarding rules based questions, you put it in the thread. Every time. Still ask privately sure, but town needs to know whatā€™s being asked that way we can verify answers.

@Sloonei this is serious by the way.
Can also add any particular one offsā€™

What do you mean ā€œplaying more conservatively?ā€ Apologies if you answer this later.

Also, @Fatmo I definitely played with Elli and M2H that other game I was here. Elli was able to almost immediately and accurately townread me. M2H I honestly remember nothing about insert shruggie

Oh and one more @Ellibereth, is Mantis a nickname for M2H or is Mantis a player in the other game?

Mantis and Urist are both players in the other game.

The policy of asking the host questions in private is implemented to prevent the potential for any revealing information about the player who is asking the question, or for players to try to gain credibility through their public displays of asking the host questions.

Questions are ALWAYS answered publicly by the host. Itā€™s just preferable (in my opinion) for players to ask them in private so that the act of asking the question itself does not become part of the game.

I never intended to be critical of the policy here (the policy Iā€™m speaking of isnā€™t even universally recognized on the Syndicate and weā€™ve only started pushing for it recently) and it is certainly the worst case scenario for a host to receive a general question in private and then only answer it for the person who asked it. Iā€™d never ever advocate for that and I definitely was not suggesting doggo should have done that here.

Just caught that lol. Never hide reads from the group. Even weak ones

Strongly disagree with this given that Iā€™m the one who gave M2H the advice in question.
