Fatmo remains my strongest town read in this thread. What do you see in him?
very very very slight townread due to his lack of smugness, though it would be a higher read except I do agree with a number of points sloo brought up so it got lowered a bit. itâs mostly that if m2h is scum I think heâll mess up later, and I sort of at least half know how to watch out for how any other scum players might be telling him what to do in the future too (if heâs not being himself and just following orders, etc).
your impressions from him are based on play on smogon yeah.
itâs more of that I see towniness upside in everyone else except for fatmo and ufo. I donât know them that well so itâs kinda moot for me to distinguish between the two on what makes them towny or scum, itâs just a gut feeling that they arenât acting quite like other townies Iâve played with and I donât have an archetype to base their towniness on.
correct
Iâm considering it if only I (we?) have sort of forced some of you into a situation youâre probably not that comfortable in either!
The main stopping point is you can imagine how someone who already hates being questioned on things he considers better than rand would hate discussing/being questioned on things he considers at best rand!
Anyway, no interest in doggo because town, kim because neighbor with chess, sloonei because of sheer impossibiltiy/at best rand from my pov.
So basically UFO and I donât play like players that are used to a culture that weâve never played in? And for that reason weâre the only two you would even consider lynching?
Just trying to be clear here.
AndâŚyou donât see any difference in the way UFO and I play? You canât distinguish between us two? What does that even mean? Lol I think we are at least distinguishable.
Why I townread Fatmo:
Post #7 is his introduction to this game and this community. He provides a brief overview of his mafia background and current situation, but then immediately gets into chatter about the game in front of him, despite providing himself with the opportunity for cover in the post. I particularly liked this bit:
He presents a meta-based reason to be wary of Kim, but immediately balances it with existing information from the thread. This looks to me like a civilian player who is weighing multiple sides of an argument right off the bat.
His next post (#13) is an open dialogue with Doggo about their respective interpretations of game mechanics. Fatmoâs tone is consistent with what Iâd expect from a civilian in a new environment: he is receptive to Doggo but not deferential. He sticks to his guns and explains himself without pushing a clear agenda. He then pivots in his final paragraph to engage with Doggo about what may or may not have been an early read on M2H.
I am inclined to sympathize with posts like this, though I could also see room to argue that it is bad. But I read it as an honest take from Fatmo with an acknowledgment of alternatives.
He has several posts trying to tackle the problem of reading Elli (as we all do) in which his tone remains curious and receptive, which strikes me as the mindset of an honest civilian again. #119 #142 #203 to give a few examples.
Posts #340 and #345 were his response to me pressing him for reads on everybody in here. He provided thoughts without much fuss in a way that was believable and which aligned with the general progression of his posts in the thread. It was a refreshing moment in the game for me.
In general I feel like Fatmo has been the most transparent player in this thread in terms of presenting his thoughts when he is around. Perhaps I have a bias because his playstyle is most similar to what I am accustomed to on my own site. Acknowledging that, I still have to place a firm town read on him today. He will not be getting my vote.
What is the policy on discussing players Liking posts as potentially game-related content? Is that fair game?
fair, dead players/people not in game shouldnât be liking anymore tho.
Cool. @kimpossible what part of this post were you Liking when you clicked on the little heart below it?
I ctrl+fâd âSyndicateâ to find the post and now itâs highlighted in the post itself, oh dear.
Discussing likes is fair game, dead players, players not in the game, and players whose thread is locked should not be liking posts.
I think itâs helpful while searching but should probably go away if you delete the search term, will look into.
I deleted it but the highlightâs still there.
Definitely a useful function, and the lingering highlight isnât a detriment at all. I just felt momentarily embarrassed.
Yeah looking into this part. Thanks for pointing out.
no can do tbh sorry
What can you not do?
am I allowed to like posts in thread B when both threads are unlocked?
