The reason why scum players often seem to fail to look townier than normal town (i.e are not good at their ONE JOB) is simply due to the lack of practice. Players get to play scum games 1/3 on average the frequency of their town games. So often what you’ll find is that players are significantly skewed in their power levels in town games as opposed to scum games. That’s the reason that explains the discrepancy we commonly see.
With that said, I think analyzing the setup and how much room for error that we have can be useful for analyzing player behavior, scum and town motivations respectively. I think that can be useful, such as the lack of nightkills.
