The whole point of mafia is to be able to make reads and to persuade others to listen to your reads, or to follow the reads by others that you like the best. PRs are simply a tool to help narrow down reads, but the base game of reads and persuasion is a base trait even able to be used by VTs; it is not a PR exclusive trait.
If some players are not given the chance to state their reads, persuade people of their reads, or to follow others’ reads, then the game of mafia has been fundamentally disrupted.
Different people being online at different times means there’s different reads and different chances for persuasion, so the outcome has an above reasonable chance to be different based on these different people and times. I don’t want to quantify this chance with a hard number because I think the chance varies based on who’s playing and on what could be said, but I do think people’s decisions are highly based on the words and actions of other players.
I don’t think a game of mafia is about voting and never changing your mind even after other people talk, and I’m a bit weirded out that the logic of “the same actions would have happened over 48 hours even if they were sped up to a few hours” assumes the game and opinions and votes are static. I also come from the world of Survivor more than the world of mafia, and it’s not uncommon you hear things in Survivor about a voting plan changing upwards of 4 or 5 times in a cycle (yes it’s a different game with different rules, but the idea that people can persuade others of their reads is still at least somewhat applicable).
I think having all players know of a reasonable time frame of when a day could start is the best way to make sure everyone can contribute their reads and to persuade and/or be persuaded.

I submitted an action because I was on. You shouldn’t have accellerated the night because it wasn’t a clear supermajority or 2/3rds wanting to end the night. Just because a night action is submitted quickly doesn’t mean they want a qucik night. For all you knew, I was re-reading the game.

I mean, if you started sending physical hate mail to someone here that you don’t really know telling them they’re garbage at mafia that’s also a problem.

okay @JakeTheWolfie you can do this, but as long as you use your real name since then Elli has no jurisdiction over you.
I’m not sure how advisable that is, so maybe refrain, but whatever you do, leave mafia451 out of the hate mail shenanigans.
anyway we’re going to be showing flips/essential information and links on a sidebar in the future once I fix the fucking code so hopefully that fixes some of the issues with what happened r.e. doggo dead and not realizing it.
sorry but wouldn’t it be better to code something so the host can list who’s dead and those dead people can’t reply to the thread?
or better yet, code something where the host can assign players the ability to post and a separate list for the ability to vote? (having two separate lists for voting and replying is helpful for deadtalking games like urist’s last one).
Those are on the list of “nice to haves” but we’re balancing dev time vs. business importance.
