i’ve never actually seen a role like that; most masons i’ve seen have a mason thread to talk in and are informed in their role pm that the other player(s) is town
a neighborhood is a when a group of 2 or more players have a thread to talk in but do not know the alignment of the other players in the neighborhood
i don’t think he’s saying he’s actively masons atm, but rather that under certain circumstances he could become masons with someone else
i don’t particularly think he’s conflating neighbors with masons
we’re not lynching both of them for the sole purpose of determining if there may or may not be scum in the pairing (also town/town enighbors are a thing?)
we lynch people for being scummy, not for being in a neighborhood with people of ambiguous alignment. like we’re going to work out their alignment just like we work out everyone else’s alignment, by reading their play
this feels like some combination of rolefishing + proposing policy lynches for incredibly dubious reasons
and literally having the word ‘mason’ in your role pm is not necessarily an indicator that they’re masons; i can imagine a scenario where someone’s role is named something flavor-relevant but their role is described as ‘you know that X is town’ in which case i would call them masons even if the role is not literally described as such in the role pm
I dislike the calling my playstyle abusive. Aggressive, abrasive, caustic even, all probably fair. Abusive suggests that I make things personal rather than game related in a harmful way, and/or go out of my way to cause players distress, and/or cross lines regularly that aren’t part of normal game play. I don’t think I do those things, but if others think I cross the line from aggressive and sometimes caustic to abusive, that’s a discussion that should be had outside of a game format, because it’s something that I take serious and would like to amend for and change if anyone feels as if I’ve been abusive towards them as part of the game.
I get that maybe we’re using the word differently, but I want to put this out there anyways, because I don’t think abusive is a word that should get thrown around lightly.
Anyways, to your questions…dunno, really. Could just be that I don’t have hard scumreads, could be the lessened amount of time compared to normal. Could just be the playerlist. It’s not really something I think about, it just is what it is.
FWIW, I rarely express strong townreads unprompted, as either alignment. It’s fair to criticize that I haven’t had much of a scumread yet, but the townread thing is just, like, a style thing.
My home site is full of people that play each other often, so metas get so twisted around and bent out of shape up is down and down is left and right is sideways.
