Deep Space 9 Mafia - Game Over!

Someone in this game is really good at being scum

If there were 2 scum; the scum won’t be so hard to find!

ha ha yes, otherwise how dumb are we all going to look

pyx has raised the idea of there being two remaining scum

imo pyx is one of the best at game balance and game mechanics assessment
I am likely very stupid but how is there space in the game for two more scum? And we know for sure there’s some weird sleepwalkeriser role in play
and also a claim of “I’m a miller
no wait, I’m a miller AND a bodyguard 2x shot” without an alignment cop to make the miller claim credible. Against the backdrop of at least 4 VTs

if pyx is not going to be lynched today @urist can you please investigate him tonight?

scenario: there is an indy who is the sleepwalkeriser, which would explain the fucking around with target choices.

ffery does like to put indies in games

gnite peeps

Then that bitch ass indie needs to claim, else we consider him scum

gmorn on this side. See, that’s maybe part of the problem -

You say “Yes”, I say “No”.
You say “Stop” and I say “Go, go, go”.
Oh no.
You say “Goodbye” and I say “Hello, hello, hello”.
I don’t know why you say “Goodbye”, I say “Hello, hello, hello”.
I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello.
I say “High”, you say “Low”.
You say “Why?” And I say “I don’t know”.
Oh no.
You say “Goodbye” and I say “Hello, hello, hello”.
I don’t know why you say “Goodbye”, I say “Hello, hello, hello”.

You say traitor or Indie ('cause maybe you know that a game of 3 scum balances best as 1/4 town, which makes for a game of 12 with 8 town. BUT, we had 13 players, which usually means a sneaky 3P Indie Serial Killer which we don’t have.
ALSO, the Town power roles have been x-shot : 1-shot Vig, claimed 2-shot Body Guard, 2-shot Bulletproof Doctor. Only the Town Thief (Swapper) + maybe ability, the claimed RaceCop, and the claimed Orb Collector + ability have unlimited uses. Plus, whatever MS may or may not have or be claiming asclaiming Town.

So to what does that add up? With one no-power mafia and one 2-shot mafia I think yeah, that leaves us with your Town Traitor, Sleepwalk Indie, and.or 2 no-power mafia. We know the Sleepwalkeriser is in the game and is anti-town, so it’s a matter of whether we think they’re Indie or Scum. Either way they have to go for us to win.

If Sleepwalkeriser is Indie then it’s just 1 Mafia left for sure. If they are Mafia then I don’t know what we’re looking at, and maybe esp. 'cause I don’t know how the role is employed - does it block, does it redirect, does it redirect to do the kill?
A powerful last mafia likely balances if the game is 9-3 with the Town power claims (IF MS actually isn’t any Town power).
IF the Sleepwalk is just for giggles, as maybe a game mechanic, then it’s likely 4 scum with 2 left, and esp. so IF MS is some sooper power first claimed.
IF the Sleepwalk has only been used on VTs as is now claimed then we still don’t know. The odds are maybe even that the ebil Sleepwalkeriser is hiding in either VT sleepwalk claim OR one of the claimed Town Power roles, which covers ALL of us. If hiding in the Town power claims then it’s likely just 3 Mafia with 1 left, the Sleepwalkeriser. If hiding in the Town VT claims then it’s likely 4 Mafia with the Sleeperizer being a weak distraction role (not a redirect to do the kill sort of thingie), OR 3 Mafia with the Sleeperiser being a beefy badarse Mafia role.

BOTH of those last 2 iffies haz the Sleeperiser being Mafia. IF the Sleeperiser is Indie, then that leaves a weak Mafia team (2 Goons and a 2-shot Blocker), so the last Mafia would have to be hiding in the claimed Town power roles - that mostly points to me.

Now, to make it even more convoluted, 2 players (1 of whom we now know was Town (Josh)) have claimed that something happens if they find something. That could be either good or bad. It either maybe balances against Mafia finding and recruiting a Traitor to full-scum status (thus going from 3 to 4, which they likely would have completed by now, UNLESS they can’t kill and recruit at the same time - though I’d still say the no-kill was Screen self-protecting using the last of his 2-shot bulletproof-doctoring), OR it IS the recruit mechanism. I think if it’s in-play it’s likely the former.

TL;DR, we may be looking at either 2 Goons and an Indie Sleepwalkeriser OR just the one very powerful Sleepwalkeriser Mafia. We all hope it’s the latter.

So
 you’re, um
 saying
herm’s more likely to be scum if male and a “bitch ass indie” if female?

as i suggested earlier, sleepwalking might just be the mafia factional kill or ability, so we dont have a sleepwalkeriser mafia as much as ‘mafia goon’ or 'mafia " who happens to be able to use the factional sleepwalk ability.

“mafia racecop” who share the sleepwalk factional ability with the rest of their team

ahem

No one knows how traitor roles work (but see above posting). We know a traitor wins with scum but is usually counted with town for parity. What we’ve usually seen at TR/MR is a Town Traitor - a player who remains Town but wins with Mafia. However, I’ve seen and know fferylltfegnugen has seen and maybe even sporadically used a Traitor who can be recruited to full Scumhood, which makes the Traitor more of a Lost Wolf (if you’re familiar with that at all).

IF it’s in play it’s NOT the Sleepwalk mechanism because Mafia would NOT use it twice on the same person.

However, the game balance sets itself up fairly well to have a Sleepwalkeriser Lost Wolf Rcruitable Traitor Thingie. And IF that’s the case, it’s for sure in the VT claims, though it’s probsbly most likely though not for certain that the Sleepwalkerising Traitor knew from the start who the Mafia were, but Mafia did not know who the Sleepwalkeriser Traitor was.

But REALLY, that’s all just to many IFs in those last posts of mine. They might be helpful tomorrow once 2 more of us are dead, but today we have the most difficult task of either choosing the most probable scummie or just lynching the Miller to keep him out of LYLO.

“probsbly” is a new word I’m trying out.

I’ll be back tonight. Sorry for being away so long.

Oh, that’s OK, no one said it was a scum tactic like Nanook and cabd employed whatsoever.

I agree. Most of the GMs we’re familiar with luv Indies. Teshi maybe most of all luved killer Indies and games with as many killers as could be squeezed into a game.

But if we have an Indie it’s bad news. Not as bad as if we have a Traitor Sleepwalkeriser maybe, but it still means we may have to lynch BOTH a third scum AND an Indie to win here, though maybe not. I mean, if an Indie Sleepwalkeriser merely redirects the Mafia kill we might be alright, but that seems way too limiting to a goon-heavy mafia team.

I suppose we still could have an Indie with undeclared invisiblated powers - something like Commuter, but there’s almost literally no one of us that could be except maybe Andres, AND they’d be happy to work WITH Town
 maybe.

No, if there’s an Indie I’d think we’re looking at having to still lynch 2.
I’m hoping it’s just 1 powerful Possessor/Blocker Mafia left who wants to spit in _fferyllt’s eye. But, help me, that doesn’t look good for the other of the N1 Temple gang, though it’s inconclusive.

I think that if the sleep walking thing is a parasitic scum thing
where they use a person to do a night kill. Then they probably will get investigated as the person that they use
 ?

@Andresvmb would you be able to talk more about your role again? Who have you targeted again for orbs? And is it the the same as w Josh
in that you might gain an ability?

Sure. N1 I targeted Judge, and came back empty. N2 I targeted Josh, and found an Orb, which gave me access to the Celestial Temple (where I communicated with Urist and Cats). N3 I targeted Pyx (knowing Pyx did not have an Orb), and again came back empty. However, the Orb was returned to me after Josh’s NK (since the Universe has a wicked sense of humor). It appears that I can search for an Orb every night, as well as maintain access to the Temple for as long as I am holding an Orb. However, holding an Orb does not give me any sort of power beyond access to the Temple.

That’s it.

Just confirming the prior claim:

Did the Orb folk get any kind of indication of “gain an ability once I collect an Orb”? OR, since apparrently the Orbs were initially assigned N0, @Urist or maybe cats, did y’all get any “gain an ability” note on Orb stuff? Or, what do we think are the odds that since Andres claims to have been specifically tasked in role PM to collect the Orb(s) that the “gain an ability” is specific to him? And it would seem to me that means something other than access to the Temple, but what do others think? Could it simply be access to the Temple as the ability gained?
