Here I was thinking your catchup post was over 8 hours late, but then I realized you never actually promised a post. Bamboozled again!
At this point I’m pretty much just waiting on any sort of meaningful input from @_fferyllt, @MetalSonic, @Josh, @AKFD.
To be honest my thinking on Cats is all over the place, so until I do an ISO and sit down to think about the posts, I am going to refrain from commenting too much on how I’m leaning. But I agree with everything you are saying here.
get owned
i will actually be slowly catching up over the course of today though. in between pretending i am doing the work im supposed to be doing work that’s super important and i take very seriously
I don’t think reading Parsec as Town because of his claim is silly, but I don’t have enough background to really make a strong judgment call here. Claiming Miller implies some risks that if I were Scum, I (personally) would be loathe to take in a 13 player game on Day 1. Now, if this was coming from say Nanook, I would tread cautiously. From Parsec? I don’t know. However, if I’m thinking of the average player of Mafia, I think it’s more likely than not a Town move. The reasoning is mostly strategic - it potentially saves the Town from having a guilty result from a Cop cause a mislynch, and expose the Cop.
However, if Parsec begins to make a compelling case as Scum, then you should expect that my read will evolve. I am simply placing him in the No Lynch bucket for now.
I have come around to your view of Srceenplay in this game, but maybe check out the game we played and tell me if it helps explain my initial conclusion (quick ISO of him should do it).
You are having a hard time following my read of Cats because I was having trouble with my read of Cats. I need to just re-read, and focus on Cats independent of Srceenplay’s claim. The Claim just threw me off, and I was having all kinds of trouble making a coherent argument. Now that we know that the Claim is false (Srceenplay basically confirmed it), we can move on to analyzing Cats’ on the merit of his posts.
Also, I wasn’t ignoring Cats’ play. I focused too intently on the Claim, but then went back and looked at the play. If I had ignored it, I would have stuck to a read based on the Claim and not gone back at any point since. This is still early in the game.
This overstates my experience with Srceenplay. I don’t know that he fake-claims as Town. I have seen him do it once, and only partially, as Town. I tried to explain why I thought the gambit could conceivably have yielded information that would hurt the Town in #334, and how it’s different from what I saw. However, this lean is not a strong negative lean - now that I’ve taken a step back and cleared my mind a bit, my lean is more neutral, slightly positive. Like you said, since he does not appear to care much about what others think of him, and is trying to get reactions and get the game moving, I can’t see a Scum mindset.

Could go either way.
…how do you describe it?
I’ll look him over too. And then make a better decision
That defeats the point.
Your answer could be helpful to me.
I’m confused… you asked me what null means to me. Means neither townish or scummish. So null means to me it could go either way
Pretty much undecided until I iso him
I am having trouble reconciling this with a Town mindset. Why would you telegraph, way ahead of time, where your vote is going to end up at the end of the day (while being slightly dismissive of the posts to follow)? I understand that Nanook can be aggressive (we had our run-ins when I was Scum, though I probably would have complained about some of it had I been Town), and he can certainly be wrong, but up until then, the only thing you could really say was Scummy, if at all, was his insistence to wait for a CC of Srceenplay’s claim, which in my view is not even an unreasonable reaction (it isn’t how I reacted, but if I had seen a lot fake-claims I might have said something similar [and especially if the claim is as suspicious as Srceenplay’s]).
Sorry. I misread. Thought you were avoiding the question.
So go either way?
You have no info to move them towards town or scum.
Or
You have info that leans Town and info that leads scum.
Is it fair to say it’s one of them?
It is neither. I don’t have any info. Here let me do an ISO right now then I’ll give you my opinion
Wait a sec… can ISO’s just be done on this forum by going to the user and looking at their posts?
I’ll just reread the game
You can ISO a person by clicking on their picture within the game and filtering.
Ok thanks
