Claiming town is definitely not AI so yeah in terms of game advancement it’s pointless. the post itself is kind of nai (ai and nai stand for alignment indicative and not alignment indicative for clarity sorry), but posting it makes sense since people usually like to meme around in rvs
Yes, I’m giga (hence the GB at the end of my name, I used to go by gigabyteTroubadour but I’m playing around with different usernames bc I don’t want to acknowledge homestuck)~ To me this point seems like a difference in meta, at least in higher level play (I don’t know how high level the play in playdip is in terms of dayplay so this is just from my experience across several sites) snap reads are usually a good way to get the game moving along. Sure, nothing exciting happened that would lock my alignment, but I can kind of see why Josh might think I’m town with what I’ve posted so far. Someone might disagree or think that read looks suspicious (as you are right now, for example) and that leads into discussion. Obviously that’s pro-town but that doesn’t necessarily make it town. Just in this specific instance I think this comes from town!Josh more often than not.
alliance thing is a meme, usually Katsuki (cupcake) and zmuffinman (_fferyllt here) start games off like that. when i said it though i meant that I was townreading brass. ftr dont feel bad about being out of the loop because the only reason i know this is because i constantly stalk people before I play with them, if I stayed in my own lane I’d be lost too lol
I would think intuitively scum would not want to tip off their hand too soon? Nothing about Josh’s read looks like it specifically looks like a tmi read, especially because I feel the same way about brass’s engagement. Brass’s the kind of person who it really shows when he’s not enjoying a game because he’s scum, even if I think his scumgame isn’t that bad, and I’ve kind of liked the way he’s followed up with his posting so far. I could probably expand on this if needed?
It’s definitely a two-sides of the coin situation and I’m waffling around myself here. I don’t think Josh’s disagreement in this regard is motivated by a red role pm though. Remember that scum, if they’re going to lie about their genuine feelings about optimal play, are going to have to be held accountable for their actions. Deliberately lying about mechanical strategy is usually not worth the risk imo
The thing to always consider with massclaim is whether or not the massclaim is going to benefit town or scum more. Sure, giving scum the info on everyone’s role is bad. But if we can nail down scum into specific groups, that might get us closer to a scum lynch and a consecutive scum vig. And even if we don’t find locking everyone into claims useful D1, looking back at it after flips might give us an advantage. I’m not good at strategy so I like having people spitballing and looking at all the angles personally, I’m hardpressed to say this is why Josh would be scum if you are in fact correct about your read.
Personally I like how Josh has been sorting internally, just the timing of his reads and how he’s going about the game so far don’t give me the impression he’s trying to do it with an agenda in mind. Like I said, scum do know all the answers BUT they don’t want to give town them too soon. I think when Josh is declaring people as town and the strengths of said reads are fairly reasonable, and it’ll be more telling once more people start posting and we start seeing scumreads coming into play. Right now I really only have townreads on you and brass, and a light townread on Josh so it’s not that much.

but yeah voting is good since it lets people be held accountable for their opinions + we can see how scum/town interact with wagons later in the game as votecounts are posted

I forgot Nanook had posted, but he was the one that flip flopped on the mass claim issue a bit. Starting with a tone of “Don’t mass claim” then talking about the benefits.

For the record, in this sort of setup, I don’t give a poop about whether we mass claim day 1 or not, usually I advocate to wait at least until Day 2, but whatevs.

i didnt really like his muffin scumread that much, it just felt kind of superficial in a way that doesnt feel like newbtown the same way dom’s josh scumread does (dont worry about bad cases not only are they sometimes right but you’re new and still learning so dont take it too personally lol
