What parts of the interface do you not use?

But why would people sign up for a platform that just fades pictures so that they can be bombarded with ads? The whole business model is absurd.

Also you don’t really need to be profitable if you have investors, you just need to look like you’ll eventually be profitable.

But what do I know. The Founder is a billionaire and I’m some angry guy on a couch complaining about social media.

People use it for subscription-based porn yeah? The guarantee that the content is deleted after viewing makes it attractive for that.

You can take screenshots though. There’s no such guarantee.

When’s the last time someone used :twitch:

For a lot of people Snapchat is a kind of image instant messaging service where the images aren’t really preserved, so they don’t have to be stressed over as much as something like Instagram. I don’t use it but my younger brother uses it to keep in touch with friends - he can send them a shitty picture of a coffee he made that he’s drawn on and add a silly caption about some interaction with a customer and it’s better than just a text message, or he can broadcast it to a bunch of people at once if he wants. If he wants to check up on his friends he can get images and video snippets from their days which they’ve usually commentated on.

It’s really not absurd at all. Or if it is, it’s absurd in the same way text messaging is absurd because you could just call people. Re ads, most online services bombard people with them, that’s not new.

I rarely use the gavel icon in non-mafia forums.

@MetalSonic brings up an excellent point:

Which (if any) of these links do y’all actually use.

I don’t use the informational / see ongoing games.

I don’t use the alarm bell on the right side

I don’t use the share link button

I don’t actively use the ignored/normal/tracking/watching button, I have it set up to automatically act based on previously defined preferences.

I don’t tend to use any clickable parts of the WYSIWYG post editor, a toggle off would be nice.

I don’t switch my theme often, and I can go to settings if I want to for some reason.

I only used FAQ once, don’t need it any more. I don’t navigate to categories from here. I do switch theme from here. I do use post actions (latest, unread, cakeday, etc) from here.

You can toggle that off (at least on mobile, I assume on desktop too) by clicking the hamburger button next to the minimize button.

That just minimizes the reply

The one next to the arrow. The hamburger menu.

You can’t toggle it off on desktop but we’ll be removing a bunch of the ones no one uses from that bar going forward and with the new click voting design coming up it’ll be STRONGLY recommended to use the vote button.

See you taking credit for Key’s work, again.
