I think the ideology that everyone at the table is playing for first at all times is flawed and can lead to a lot of otherwise preventable losses. In the end, it’s on the player to evaluate who they’re playing with, rather than expect that they’re going to play for the 1% win.

A player like me will always play for the win, but I knew someone who regularly played for 2nd once they got behind. Understanding that, how and when to exploit that is super important to multiplayer.

Btw I don’t think that Andres could have tied for first
 clearly g5 wouldn’t have worked out for him since we did end up banishing who he would have had to choose to place 1st. If he had made the “correct” play and went for first, he almost certainly would have come in last instead and would have had to deal with the utter humiliation that comes with it.
