In a hypothetical world where I’m Scum and I had complete authority to split the groups, I would not have split the population 4-3-1. I would have done 4-2-2, put one of the Scum in the 4, and the weaker of the two Scum in one of the 2. That’s the stronger set up in my mind, but you may have your own argument as to a different set up. 3-3-3 with both Scum in one of the groups of 3 is also something I would consider.

If I’m forced into 4-3-1, I would put both Scum in the 4 and dared people to take the shot (together with the strongest Town I can identify, to guarantee people will think several times before making that choice). Since it makes most sense to play it safe to start, I really doubt we’re going to end up voting the 4. If this is your argument, given my latest appreciation for your Town game, then yes, I agree with you.

And yes, I would do be the kind of person to set up a group with only one player. But I can also think of a few people in this game that would set it up that way and have that one player be Scum. And it includes you. So just saying.

I was thinking about this before I got my alignment, and optimal play here for scum is to create a group of 4 and either put 0 or 2 scum in it, depending on how many balls you believe the town to possess.

That if you were Scum, or I was Scum, I could imagine us creating a set up where we find ourselves in a group of 1, since it would surely maximize Town deaths. Objectively? It’s risky. So even though it would be in my character to do it, I also don’t think it’s the best setup, because it can backfire spectacularly. I think my logical side would win out, but you never know.
