Mafia 451 Draft

Calling it now. All three of them are scum and trolling.

Can someone post the Elli list again. I can’t find it.

Why would I waste my time defending myself when I have to try to make sense of this gladiator thing and figure out which way I want to vote? I think people putting heat on me is pretty dumb. If I am lynched, I’m not invested in this community enough to care about anything I did wrong and I will just think all my townie ā€œfriendsā€ are dumb af. I do think the scum team is a whole hell of a lot smarter than the town team in this particular game. And you are definitely low on my smarts list being someone who is perpetually putting heat on me for dog doodoo reasons like ā€œmafia might surprise us with a random new player!!!ā€ or ā€œdoggo’s not replying to me, Ima go cry in a corner!ā€

Alright, this was a scummy post

Have you even seen my recent towngames? you educate urself pls

I have not read them nope, why is it we are never in a game together. Do you dodge me?

Explain to me how this represents your town game?

Anyway, onto potential gamesolving but probably not because I’m bad. This is more of just pointless theorying/fanfictioning.

Urist was dayshot and flipped town. Relooking over the roles, I noticed this one weird universal backup. This universal backup now has Urist’s role, unless I’m mistaken? The urist shot to me makes no sense on it’s own, but what if it was purposely to get Urist’s role stolen? I mean we narrowed the lynch down to two people, but universal backup only works for the first killed. Someone could have just really really wanted their team to have Urist’s role sooner than later. To me I wouldn’t be super surprised if the mafia team got spooked by the gladiator, didn’t want their universal getting some other role, and shot to give their universal scumbuddy Urist’s role thinking it would be good.

Universal as a role seemed at first to me to have slightly more utility to town than mafia since mafia starting with low number prolly would want more active and immediate roles. But the whole blind thing sort of really screws up a lot of role guessing, and the universal power would kick in pretty dang soon so I don’t think it’s a bad utility for mafia either.

To me, it also seems to be much more aligned in scum-mentality to use a shot to power up their universal backup, whereas the town mentality of course would be using their shot to get rid of scum.

Of course, all of the above prolly just doggy doodoos all over occam’s razor, but I have no idea the ā€œsimpleā€ version of you guys playing is, and without any other leads, I am now spilling this random BS all over the place. And I’m sure this will prolly make me look stupid and/or scummy. But well… I kinda don’t care in this moment since I can’t be lynched in this moment, so shrug?

No idea how much the presence of the universal back up is in people’s minds during these early stages, it wasn’t in mine until rereading the roles. Maybe it’s a bad metric to base decisions on, but at the same time you can’t deny that early actions do highly impact the universal backup player.

I think I have decided after the urist flip that trying to speculate what elli done is kinda bad and just get’s us into too much wifom. Town urist proves elli didn’t just bit for who he thinks would be a good randed scum team. We are probably better off just solving this through classic mafia from now on, for the most part.

My town game has been much more abrasive over the past few games and a bit less cautious with what I say. My early town game was super cautious, super into asking questions, etc, but I got tired of people calling me out for being too eager to scumhunt or some bs. Of course, it’s also kinda dumb for me to say I have an early and current gamestyle when the sample size is super low at 5 or something but well :man_shrugging:

Again, in this moment I have nothing to be worried about with how I act, and I’d rather act in a way that keeps me blunt and weird than try to act in a way that keeps me dying from a lynch that I’m already immune to this cycle. I’ll worry about next lynch when we get there, if I get there :man_shrugging:

I mean yeah that was always true

Yes, and how does classic mafia solve this random gladiator and shot, both of which seem like subpar moves at face value?

The fact you are aware of all of this, means this is what you try replicate as scum. You have now just described your scum game, congrats!

Anyways, despite it being amazingly feels bad I think no lynching is bad today and I think everyone kinda accepts starv is just town here. I think therefore despite what I want to do based on principle, I have to actually do this: VOTE: DS

Because chances are the dude is going to get lynched later down the line anyways, as he does every game.

The gladiator was bad, the shot wasn’t because we had to lynch urist this game anyways, it just saves us a lynch

VOTE: No Lynch

Urist being alive at lylo was always going to introduce the paranoia of elli wanting to pick him,so vigging him is still a fine move

I haven’t even played enough games as scum to have a scum game, so nice try. I think I’ve only been scum in two games and both times I played rather differently. The playerbase and what people are doing/saying impact me a lot as well, but nice try. I’m utterly devastated that you now know my scum game, le gasp! It’s not like you couldn’t have le gasp iso’d my past games and learned something either!

i appreciate doggo’s sarcasm

Didn’t you just say that we shouldn’t be reading into teampicks or something? But when it comes to Urist it’s a valid exception?
