I get how you wouldn’t want us to vote you out.
But if we do vote you out, you still have to kill, otherwise it’s a guaranteed scum win. Being voted and not killing would be borderline throwing.

I think that either you or squirrel are mafia because you two were ones “cleared” by arete. The fact that Squirrel jumped on the wagon is making me less confident in this decision.
Mechanically I think the decision is sound
I just don’t understand why this is something that needs to happen now.
Tomorrow, these rules will still apply.
Yet you guys will have made it through the night knowing that I have pushed catty to death, and when she flips scum, you’ll have so much reason to believe I’m town.
Then we can avoid this mistake.

My kind of view would be this, as you mentioned a town Eric elim is a saviour (one final pulse of life for the game) but that only works once. When we get to tomorrow that would not be an option when our reads get hedgier and hedgier. I would feel it would be wise to save our final breath to a point in the game where the apparent percentage chance of maf that who we are voting is closer together between our considered options for that day.
(Also and we will have to deal with locking votes is not ideal)- if it is in effect which is not mentioned in the OP

Arete’s clears are NAI. There’s no way after making the bepwei push that arete thought they wouldn’t get killed too. Therefore, arete would make the clears with the assumption that the clears would be scrutinized. Ergo, it’s a WIFOM situation.

I feel that Arete would clear 1 scum and 1 town in order to a) throw off the town they clear b) put suspicion on the town that was cleared.
Or maybe you are right and the clears mean nothing
