I think in a world where EK isnt pocketed, I survive that. Also, squirrel was very much adament on me being a good vote (which hindsight should have been a red flag)

I thought I did a pretty good job of being genuine after I got the red check on me. That was my goal. By the time pardoner came around I was kinda done being super spammy about me being town. You’re right, I should have pushed the scum pardoner harder.

In particular, I think there are a few things that you really should have spent more time breaking down

  1. Their checks make little sense and are honestly incredibly easy to disprove. If you had, at any point, called into question their N1 check on EricKline, it would have been super easy to show that there is no way in hell that Arete would have actually checked them by simply reading their first post at the start of D2, which called them “reasonably comfortable town” yet still alluded to the idea that they could be a scum Vengeful. This proves that it was not written after receiving a greencheck, and therefore they townread EricKline overnight and would never have in a million years checked him as an actual Alignment Cop. Furthermore, their stated reasoning for said check was to “resolve the wagons,” and yet when there were actual wagons worth resolving on Night 2, they didn’t check squirrel at all, they checked you, who was “up… from SoD” and “a townlean” in P#1648 just because you swapped late. It was honestly a pretty bad fake claim and you absolutely should have taken more time to prove that Arete would not have made the checks they claimed to have made.

  2. Arete did not have a lot of credibility, and you needed to hit that harder. At no point before they claimed ACop were people strongly townreading them, and in this game it’s exceptionally possible for scum to make that claim in this game. You did say this; however, you really should have, in my opinion, focused more on pointing all of this out.

  3. You had a lot more credibility. In particular, you should have rubbed my strong townread of you in everyone’s faces. When a claimed VT dies in a setup with a lot of PRs, it is exclusively because the scum are afraid of their voice, and I was one of your strongest supporters if not your strongest. That’s worth a lot when it got me killed.

  4. Their claim as a whole makes little sense from an objective point of view. They were pretty far down the list to lay claim to the ACop/Tracker slot, and they also claimed in a situation where they were much less likely to be voted out than they were to be nightkilled after claiming. You should have put more effort into calling into question the very idea that they could possibly be the ACop even from a purely mechanical point of view, and the fact that claiming ACop at that point would be counterproductive were they actually ACop.

Had you hit all four of those points hard I think you would have stood a much better shot of not being quickhammered twice, which is really the worst possible outcome you could have achieved for yourself in that situation.
