How do I not get lynched at D1 everytime I roll town?
I say it would be good for pressure and to be productive overall. (As long as you are caught up and read) I think reading thoroughly is important too, although I know I have committed the sin of skimming at times.
Why is it productive?
Like at the end of the day the things town need to win are to not die and to have scum die.
Voting incorrectly, pushing for incorrect reads, being distracted by red herrings, etc.etc. can all be framed to be productive (Using your vote, pressuring, giving content) when they’re often times detrimental depending on the game atmosphere.
Not saying that those things are always bad - just that they’re not good a lot more than people tend to think.
If you’re consistently getting lynched D1 figure out why and stop doing whatever it is (when playing with that set of people).
Acting natural/genuine and not making shit up as town is overrated, if you need to act to not get lynched, act.
Idk If no one does pressurize thing or vote a wrong person then I feel like no one will do anything?
This is my problem lol I do this when I am overgamed
I feel like you are asking the wrong question. Every person plays differently, and the things you would get accused of D1 vary depending on yourself and the player list. I think you should continue playing, and learn from your mistakes from each game. “What did I do wrong, and how could I improve on that in the future?” (I think that’s for any game, not just mafia)
Example: One game I was told I was not following up on my questions. I ask a lot of questions, so I make it a point to follow up on questions (probably more so as a pre-preemptive defense against accusations like that) Another game, I was lynched for spam posting and going the low road in arguments. Also I had connections to scum (I defended them and then they flipped)
Also try to look town as town. I’ve noticed scum players do better when it comes to image, so townies will play in a way where they don’t care about their own image and have more heat come their way for weird things that garner attention.
They’re not things that should always happen. It’s unhealthy to always think “I need to vote and pressure someone”.
Curious why it is unhealthy though.
Like look at the matroshka games, people’s reads are fairly accurate even when no real voting or pressuring is happening.
Depends on your playerlist but I think it annoys a lot of people which just makes things harder.
I’ve used to be over-gamed and it has generally hurt my ability to put my all in each game. I usually try to keep my games to one at a time and just go all out in that one. Quality over quantity. (I try to, sometimes I might be in more than one)
Well yeah but my problem is when its noon for me it is usually 2 am for players
Just have fun tbh
I see. I can see that my play style may be annoying to people.
There is a huge amount of people ask “why did you vote? What is your case?” When you just vote somebody to show some reactions and pressureize
I’ll write an article on mafia myths and you can link them to it.
I know I have been the one to ask for reasoning for naked votes in the past, but nowadays I try to wait and see how it plays out and then ask why after things happen. I do think it’s not helpful to interrupt pressure early on at least.
Pressure isn’t very useful in general, I feel. There are far too many people who react poorly under pressure regardless of their alignment to make it a reliable tool, unless you know the person well. I’ve had more success observing the people who feel safe, that’s when they tend to overstep or make a bad push or whatever.
Using a vote to pressure or garner reactions is fine, but if that’s what you’re doing you have to follow up on it right? Like, just throwin a vote out with nothing to back it up, then also not following up on it…that’s pretty much always gonna get scumread by a certain amount of players (whether it should or not is a different argument).
Basically what I’m saying is have a plan with your votes, preferably one you can articulate to other people if needed.
