hmmm… I guess it’s possible cabd didn’t block you but knew you were blocked (or jailed - block plus protect) or sleepwalked or even possessed still. It’s just the simpler explanation is you were roleblocked by cabd. I have seen powers transfered from a dead scum to a live one before. Or, since cabd was a 2-shot like me, I could see the other mafia being like a JOAT with 1 roleblock, though I’d usually expect different flavour with that sort of thing - something besides s;eepwalking. But if it’s a JOAT it might also explain the no-kill, if they had to make a choice of use of powers; but then I’ve usually seen a last mafia allowed to do the kill plus their role.
I agree that 4 mafia seems too much, esp. with having had even a 1-shot Vig - the game could have swung the other way in a hurry. I’d rather think some of the evident powers are not of town.
My 1st choice there would be Screenplay, for obvious reasons. I agree claiming Doc would have been risky for anyone but Screen, who set himself up with other fake claims, but then he did specify a “hard” claim when it came to Doc, and the flavour he gives is as uniquely creative as what MS claims with the note. But you can see why I doubted him immediately, since I have a protective role I figured was our only doc-type role.
The Neighborizer role (which I guess is cats?) could be something other than Town, if it’s a role at all and not simple a weird game mechanic the GM spoke of. But if a player is controling the Orb(s), I could at least see that as possibly an Indie 3P role rather than strickly Town, for game balance.
As I’ve said, I could also see Josh’s claim as an Indie 3P. If so, that would make it 8-3-2, which doesn’t seem out of wack to me, esp. since the Indie roles (if that’s what they are) would have been more utilitarian than threatening.
Play-wise I tend to think Josh is town, but I recognise that each of us have positivs and negatives, which certainly opens up the possibility of mafia elsewhere in almost any others. And with all the sideways investigative claims, I still want there to bee a simple alignment Cop. I guess I could see a faux set-up where there isn’t one, my Miller role is moot, and only my 2-shot BG is viable; but I’d expect some indication of a ‘bastard’ set-up, unless that’s what was meant by, “The game will be role-heavy and may have some unusual hidden or public mechanics”. It might also fit somewhat with the game being designed around the number of players signed up rather than the other way around.
