Depends on the game obviously, but yeah, broadly speaking I’m a fan of mass reveals in closed setups. I can give you an example of where I’ve done this as town before, if desired.

It’s not the cluelessness that pings me. It’s his apparent impotence. He was focused on the first post of the game for too long, and didn’t draw any conclusions from it in the end. His only other comment was regarding srceenplay and it didn’t make a ton of sense, he also ignored srceen’s response to his comment so it doesn’t seem like AKFD was legitimately concerned.

i kinda need to talk to him some more to get a sense of how he approaches mafia in a general sense before i can form a solid read on him either way

but the general vibe i’m getting from him is that he’s very, very new to mafia and that he doesn’t really know how games typically flow/work. like that he doesn’t really know what to focus on or what to talk about, if that makes sense

There’s a difference between “reveals break the game” and “reveals give town an advantage they can use if they’re smart.” Im saying the latter, not the former.

In my experience at least, reveals tend to benefit the town in a closed set up. Again, not to the point of game breaking, but enough that it’s usually a definite advantage.

so town can coordinate, sure, but the thing is that so can scum, and if town plans out what they’re going to do, scum can plan around that. i don’t really see much benefit to doing this at this time

As to voting or not voting, I still don’t understand how we can use our vote to put pressure on players we want to pressurise when the majority is so enormous and the deadline so long away.

@catspurr: because sometimes people will have intersting ai reactions to being voted.

also pressure votes tend to work better if you, like, don’t tell them it’s a pressure vote

i’m tending scum on cats so a clear on them would be nice if real but the context of screenplay’s claim make it a little questionable for me, especially if he’s faked results before

Counterpoint: Nanook was not dumb, and used his lie to help him figure out who the scum were.

Sometimes there’s good reason for town to lie. Not often, only in select cases. But yeah, I think removing all context and closing your eyes and shouting “LYNCH ALL LIARS DURRRR” is dumb as rocks and a terribly dull way to play the game.

I kinda pushed reveals through in this game.

It turned out to be a broken game with an extremely bastard resurrection mechanic, but until that came into play town benefited from the set up being opened.

Actually, in that scum game I referenced you to earlier, town would’ve greatly benefited from full reveals too, but held back at partial reveals instead. I was scum in that one, so I didn’t mind

Scum people try to blend in everyone else, but according to my former game players (PlayDip forum),

Scum are generally sure of their votes, and will try to defend it. But unlike town, They try to find the “dirt” in people, and not the “dirty people” since they are the dirty people themselves.

And no, it isn’t. Filipino is supposed to be my mother tongue (I live in the Philippines), but I weirdly grew speaking English more.

I didn’t know if you used that terminology. Probably would have still been some people here who didn’t know what it meant.

I have a far out, radical idea, that will most likely be shot down, but I think if we pursued it en masse it could win us the game (or at the very least, help us tremendously).

Mass reveals.

I’ll go in depth later about why I think they’re good, but the short version is: force scum to lie, figure out how to synergyze roles, possibly catch scum in a fake claim.

There are downsides, but in a game that’s promised to be role heavy, I think it benefits us more than it benefits the scum since there presumably won’t just be two town PRs for them to pick off.

Thoughts?

After re-reading I don’t feel very good about my earlier vote on Urist. I still don’t like #46, but I like many of his other posts.

I find Andres’ concerns fake and don’t like the way he is approaching the game.

I originally had an AKFD post quoted but this explains how I feel better than I could manage. Maybe it’s just the ellipsis and if he’s 13 iunno, we can come back to him later

Regarding my concerns for the wagon on Urist - I think ultimately what I’m trying to convey is that I disagree with the view, and I think the rationale for some of the votes is thin at best. It also gets a discussion going, so some of it is to probe for some deeper analysis. I think Urist has been correctly assessing the situation and is asking the right questions, so I just don’t feel he should have 3 votes on.

That’s a lot of words to say you village read someone without actually saying it.

I find Nanook’s justification for his Screenplay vote villagey, but no opinion on Screenplay atm. Also liked the way he responded to the ‘lurking’ discussion.

I thought skitter30’s wall posts were good and real thoughts.

I have a N0 info on cats. I always scum read them so I thought I would get that out of the way.

I don’t believe this at face value because Screenplay seems like the type of person who would fakeclaim things for no reason as either alignment, and apparently has done this sort of thing before

ActionDan has come across more sincere and less inscrutable than last time I remember playing with him.
