DBZ Mafia Game Thread (Town Win)

Cool thanks for this one.

Fourth of July, Canada Day (even formerly called Dominion day), and American/Canadian thanksgiving are on my list of questionable holidays due to their charged relationship with the genocide and land theft of Indigenous Americans.

Christmas is the birth of Christ, the supposed son of the god who flooded and killed pretty much everything on Earth.

Something something crusades something something.

Christmas is an appropriation/re-purposing of various pagan solstice traditions.

ive just explained why i disagree with this move and why i think its stupid and likely doomed to fail

Actually Christmas is a Pagan Holiday, the church moved the birth of Christ from September to December for them to line up.

VOTE: Purpleshifted

Anyways, I think that this day doesn’t especially need to continue.

i disagree with your disagreement

Even in 2019, the American Thanksgiving had a number of racist mainstream media portrayals in which white / non-native people dressed up as indigenous people for comedy skits, including but not limited to on SNL and on Youtube channels like Smosh. We seem to know that people shouldn’t dress up as other races or religions on Halloween, and yet it still happens by professional comedians in November :thonk:

Sure, go ahead. I’m a VT, so the most you’d be losing is numbers, but not powers.

Mod: Says to play the game
Doggo: So anyway I started off-topic-ing

the opportunism is comical

In fairness, Canada Day is a celebration of the union of the colonies, July 4th is a celebration of independence from GB.

Associating these events to other historical events is yikes… I imagine a lot of older traditions also have external reasons to point to in disapproval, but up through the late medieval period, when a civilization was invaded, it often just got burned to the ground, eliminated from existence.

Sorry :woman_shrugging:

I think your reading comprehension skills need a lot of work.
