Big Ass Yacht (NSIMI Game B)

Oh

Did that matter or influence any of your decisions though? You guys still sacked the game.

I’m assuming maf needed to win both games to prevent them from hard trolling the big game and forcing the small game to end by ferrying a partner over.

@Sloonei We answered the same to Phil Collins! <3

Overall I like the site and the tools. The things I struggled with are probably just a matter of adjustment; forex, I was constantly flummoxed by replying to a post while catching up and having that skip me to the end of the thread. But I found the tools on the whole to be much more mobile friendly than the phpBB site I’m accustomed to.

I don’t really enjoy the method of play where variables go into a computer and it spits out the answers. To me, Mafia is a social deduction game, I want to play it in a social fashion. So I’m wary of a site culture where that’s the norm, because I think over time it’s going to lead to games that are less and less about interaction.

So I had an acceptable amount of fun, but it felt often like my participation in the game was largely unnecessary token effort.

The thing about elli’s approach is that it only really works if not everyone is doing it—if everyone played like that there’d be nothing for the ā€œcomputerā€ to analyze.

I made the same observation in almost the same words in Game A.

And yes, but even with only one person doing it, it tends to warp the game around that focus point. Maybe I’d feel differently if I’d actually played more than one day; since it seems townElli never lives past N1, then the game becomes more ā€œnormalā€ after that.

If it helps you can think of it as similar to how we treat asu or Keir on Playdip, just with higher accuracy.

Maybe I’m just used to playing with him, idk, but I don’t think it really effects the way you play 95% of the game tbh

I think Elli’s playstyle received heightened attention in our game because our roster was so small and so many of us were new to the site. His aloofness became a major topic of conversation because he was a big presence in a small game, but none of us knew what to do with him. In a larger game, or in a game where we know what to expect, I think things proceed ā€œnormallyā€, as far as a mafia game is concerned.

Where are these questionnaire answers?

I need to catch up on the postgame but the way best way to deal with this to jump back up with the up arrow that appears on the far right of the quotes.

Oh lol that’s great and I hadn’t noticed you could do that.

It didn’t affect our decisions because we knew it was nearly impossible to actually win.
Also, scum only controlled the swapping if there was a true majority of dead scum. If you guys had mislynched on d1 in either of the games, we wouldn’t have been able to control the swap. And if town controlled the swap, they’d have been able to use it to confirm town in the same way that UFO ended up being confirmed scum.

maf in game b sacks itself day 1 and has plurality over the one dead townie. He shifts a living scum to game a, gg. admittedly idk how nanook would resolve that for sure, but maf usually wins 1v1s.

I think I had tie means nobody moves but I dont remember off hand

no, nanook explicitly stated that town would win ties in the swapping mech

Or that—this is why I don’t give answers in the middle of a game without looking at my notes :joy:

Given the parameters of ā€œscum have to win both gamesā€, I think you’re right that scum has a very hard time winning. Even if the last scum is left unknown and makes it to final 3, there is still a chance he gets swapped to the other game given that town will be looking to move mafia at that point.

In a vacuum, the big game was scum sided and very difficult for town after the swap of UFO & Chesskid3.

I disagree that the big game was scum sided. Sure town played well and shot a lot of scum, but they also shot town players who could’ve been mislynched. Scum were really left no play because only the people getting townread were left alive in the big game because of the amount of vigs.

Not to takeaway, town played better obviously and deserved to win, lynching correctly every day, town should win, but I do think it was extremely hard for scum to get mislynches in this game, especially post day 1.
