I actually think both approaches are valid plays as town (as Elli demonstrates somewhat frequently). The issue is, if you play the Elli way of self sacrifice and calling out scum, youāre sacking your scum gameā¦
So overall, I do think what you did is optimal for your game, but not guaranteed to have been optimal for the town in any particular gameā¦ Hard to say how it would have affected this game, Nanook would have to change his angle for the rest of the game, tn I think plays the same way.

My angle wouldnāt have been that hard to change tbh, though I probably do have to find something else to harp on.
Whether doing things my way is ābetterā than how Josh approaches is up to how much you weight scumplay.
I basically sacrifice roughly 15% chance of winning as scum which you get roughly 25% of the time. I think the + chance I get as town the remaining 75% of the time is more than worth it.
The math obviously changes depending on how you value the different alignments relative to one another.
I do think a good competitive system would have them more equally valued in scoring than their actual appearance (so some sort of weighting required) in which case Joshās overall approach may lead to more points.
I think the players at the end played well. And I donāt think I played well at all. But, Town still won. And Josh made the right decision.
Nanook, I have to congratulate you on a fantastic Scum game. Iā¦ will keep this game in mind for the future - it was like nothing Iāve seen from you before.

I will continue to trust my solid Town reads going forward, and mostly ignore my Scum Reads unless Iām absolutely certain.

Yeah, I meanā¦ Nanook was the MVP even if he didnāt win, Iād say the only thing that should have been different is at 4, no kill (if possible) is always the best option unless someone is cleared.
I mean if I no kill I think thereās just two voices calling for my head instead of just josh who I can maybe maybe maybe swing.
In general I agree with you but I think it was the right decision to kill in this specific instance.
The issue is my vote was entirely based on the 1v1, I never had you as a scum read all game, including the final day
