This is possibly my worst game sense m2

For those of you who just had their first interaction with me, sorry.

I had little interest in this game from the begging, due to all the new people

Once we swapped, i had lost all motivation to even keep up with the thread.

I am likely done with mafia for the foreseeable future. Not that I don’t like mafia, I still love it, but I don’t want to play in this environment, with these play-styles, and people I don’t know.

For what it’s worth, I liked your playstyle when you were active.

I would argue that telling people their abilities failed is dumb

Giving out information is like criminally amazing. I think it’s not too common because mods like the idea of “defeating” players who “outguess” them or something. It’s seriously super great though you guys.

Let’s go back to our early example. Tracker and Ninja. It’s a rude interaction and I think should be avoided. But what about this Tracker:

"You are a tracker.

You also know the scum have a Ninja.

The scum know there is a tracker in the setup, who knows they have a Ninja."

If you slip, even once, about the scum having a Ninja, the scum will know you’re the tracker. Conversely, if the scum slip about knowing there’s a tracker before your claim, you’ll know they’re scum. (“You know what would be so many style points I’d knock the Earth into the sun?”) That’s cool right there. If the Ninja dies, then when scum are down to one member left you get definitive innocents that you fucking EARNED. And if not? Well then. You know the scum Ninja is probably doing all the kills. So, you’re not gonna try to track KILLERS. Maybe you track the person you think is a doc to be able to confirm their claim later…

You see? Look what I did! I took a role interaction that is smelly and bad, and made it cool, and I didn’t add ANY power to the setup - just told players more about the setup. It’s the universal fixer, baby.

Yes. And I don’t actually use that as is any more, more because as is it felt a little coddling of the players. But I do often include a note in my OPs nowadays saying something like “There may be roles which lead to false results.”
